Getting here was no easy feat - a total of 6 airports, 5 flights and countless crying children but we made it. Auckland

was originally weathered in, causing a diversion to Christchurch - down on South Island. Christchurch is not set up to international flights of this magnitude early in the AM, so all though we made it to the South Island - we were trapped onthe plane. Now imagine a few hundred people trying to get up and stretch their legs in the confined space of an airplane. Judging by the number of people photographing our aircraft o

n takeoff I am assuming that not many large jumbo jets make it in there regularily. What this meant for us was that we boarded row 66 of our 747 at 2300 on Wednesday and walked off the plane at 1530 the next day (only to have to make a mad dash through customs, immigration, quarentine and the Auckland airport to make our final flight...)

Wellington is chilly, grey and windy today but is still awesome. It kind of reminds me of the European feel of Melbourne but with the casualness of Seattle. Lots of quaint Parisian cafes and gelato stands but totally acceptable to be wearingfleece. The city is exploding with people and more have been pouring into get ready for a true clash of the titans - the final game of the Tri-State Rugby cup between the New Zealand All Blacks and the Australian Wallabies. I have been diligentally studying my rugby rules to avoid looking like too much of a tourist tomorrow - Rugby here is like a religion.
Short entry as I am quite jet lagged and stuffed full (fantastic food here - thanks to Rebecca for all of her recommendations!) More later...(better pictures next time...)
